Game 117 Recap: Mets Fall Apart Late, Lose to Padres (3-2)
By Unknown author

The Mets wasted another fine showing by starter Jonathon Niese, who hurled 7.6 innings, giving-up 7 hits, 2 earned-runs, 2 walks, while striking-out 7 batters. Lucas Duda provided most of the offense, smacked a two-RBI double in the third inning to give the Mets a 2-0 lead. That lead didn’t last long enough, however.
Ruben Tejada committed two errors, which helped the Padres come back. The Padres scored three runs between the sixth, seventh, and eighth innings to claim the lead, and eventually, the win.
After coughing-up the game earlier in the series, Padres closer Heath Bell shut the door on his former team for his 32nd save.
The Mets’ record is now at the 58-59 clip.
