It was a battle of the bats tonight in rainy New York City. Despite a poor effort by Jonathon Niese (5 ER, 10 Hits, 2 BB, 6 K in 5 IP), the Mets offense picked-up the slack. Justin Turner hit his third and fourth homeruns of the season, the latter being a two-run shot. Jason Bay added a two-run dinger and Josh Thole smacked just his second homerun.

The Mets didn’t only show muscle. Both Jose Reyes and Angel Pagan were demons on the base paths, stealing two bases each. Niese was the only Mets starter who did not record a hit, and five Mets hitters collected multi-hit games. The win bumps the Mets back up to the very familiar .500 clip.
