GAME 1 RECAP: Marlins Down Injury-Plagued Mets, 4-1
By Unknown author

No David Wright, Ike Davis, Jose Reyes, or Carlos Beltran. And then we lost Scott Hairston. The Mets rolled out the B-squad against the Marlins in a make-up game from earlier in the season, and were lucky not to be beaten worse. Starter Chris Capuano pitched a solid game, hurling 7.6 innings, seven hits, four earned-runs, two walks, and five strikeouts, but his offense could not support his effort. The Mets offense only mustered three hits, and made fresh-off-the-DL-and-former-reliever Clay Hensley look like Roy Halladay. The good news is that the Mets get back both Jose Reyes and Carlos Beltran for the Braves series. The bad news is that we’re playing the Braves.
METS GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- Chris Capuano pitched a solid game, hurling 7.6 innings, seven hits, four earned-runs, two walks, and five strikeouts, but was handed the loss. His record is now 8-9.
- Pedro Beato and Ryota Igarashi combined for 1.3 scoreless innings in relief.
- The Mets only had three hits, including two by Willie Harris.
- Lucas Duda drew two walks, and Jason Bay collected his twenty-ninth RBI.
