STARTING PITCHERS:
Dillon Gee (8-3, 3.76 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 1.76 K/BB): Losing a game was inevitable, but one can’t ignore Dillon Gee’s slide since his first one. Gee has posted a 6.35 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and 0.91 K/BB over his past four starts. The righty isn’t giving up a ton of hits (9.13 Hits/9), but opposing hitters are simply crushing the ball (ten extra-base hits). If Gee wants to return to his successful ways, he can at least start with limiting the free passes (4.76 BB/9). (Career vs. Cardinals: no record)

Kyle Lohse (8-6, 3.32 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, 2.86 K/BB): Despite missing most of 2010 with “extreme compartment syndrome,” a rare condition for anyone who isn’t a European motocross rider, Lohse has bounced back to say at least. After posting a miserable 6.55 ERA, 1.78 WHIP, and 1.54 K/BB in a truncated 2010 season, Lohse has enjoyed a 3.32 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and 2.86 K/BB campaign this season. The 32 year-old still doesn’t strikeout anyone (sporting a 4.6 K/9), but his sparkling and career-best 1.6 BB/9 might have something to do with his success. (Career vs. Mets: .327/.392/.521 line with a 5.85 ERA, 1.75 WHIP, 1.13 K/BB)
