By Unknown author

The Mets took their third game from the Dodgers behind a superb outing by Jonathon Niese. Niese hurled seven innings, giving-up five hits, three earned-runs, one walks, while striking-out six batters. Bobby Parnell and Francisco Rodriguez shut-down the Dodgers for two relief frames, with K-Rod notching his twenty-second save. Mets hitters supported their pitchers, recording eleven hits and scoring five runs. Carlos Beltran, Lucas Duda, Ruben Tejada, and Willie Harris all collected doubles–Beltran notching two two-baggers himself. The Mets are now sitting at 45-42, and on the verge of sweeping the Dodgers.

  • Jon Niese pitched well enough to notch his own win as well as one for the Mets. The southpaw hurled seven innings, surrendering five hits, three earned-runs, one walks, while striking-out six batters for his eighth win.
  • Bobby Parnell lowered his ERA to 2.66 with a scoreless inning. He also struckout two batters.
  • Francisco Rodriguez picked-up his twenty-second save. Obviously the swirling trade rumors are not affecting him on the mound.
  • Angel Pagan lead-off for the fourth straight game, and stole his sixteenth base.
  • Justin Turner went 2-5 with a RBI. He has now reached base in his twenty-eighth straight game.
  • Carlos Beltran swatted two doubles, and scored two runs.
  • Lucas Duda, who has become the default starting first baseman, collected a RBI double. He went 2-4 with a RBI and a run-scored.
  • Josh Thole went 2-3 with a walk and run-scored.
  • Ruben Tejada collected two RBI off a single.
  • Willie Harris hit a pinch-hit double in the ninth inning.
