GAME 1 RECAP: Rangers Smack Mets; Mets Lose 8-1

Oy vey. Mike Pelfrey did not have his “stuff” last night, as the Rangers knocked him around for eight hits and four earned runs. Pelf lasted six innings, but the bullpen didn’t exactly stop the bleeding. Manny Acosta relieved Pelfrey, and was blasted for an astounding five runs (four earned) in just 1.6 innings of work. Seemingly the only Mets hitter who figured out Rangers pitchers was Jason Bay, who went 3-4. Incredible.

  • Mike Pelfrey wasn’t on his A-game, pitching 6 innings, giving-up eight hits, four earned runs, two walks, while striking-out three batters.
  • Manny Acosta endured quite a thrashing. In just 1.6 innings, Acosta surrendered five hits, four runs (three earned), two walked, and one strikeout.
  • Jason Bay was the only Met with multiple hits. Bay went 3-4, all of which were singles.
  • Ronny Paulino smacked a double off Rangers starter Matt Harrison
  • Jose Reyes went uncharacteristically hitless, but did draw a walk. He also made his 10th error of the season.
