GAME 1 PREVIEW: Angels at Mets, 7:10 PM

Chris Capuano (5-6, 4.40 ERA, 1.37 WHIP, 2.81 K/BB): After a rough start, Capuano has been exactly the kind of pitcher Sandy Alderson had hoped Capuano would be for the Mets. Since the beginning of May, the lefty has posted a 3.54 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 2.66 K/BB, and a .251/.315/.399 line against. Capuano is coming off a seven inning shut-out (against the Pirates), so hopefully he has some momentum going into his turn tonight. (Career vs. Angels: no record)

Joel Pineiro (2-3, 4.03 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 1.71 K/BB): Gone are Pineiro’s early years of respectable strikeout rates (as high as 7.1 K/9 in 2004), but in its place are immaculate walk rates (currently 2.2 BB/9). Few people might realize the righty has posted a 3.69 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 2.95 K/BB since 2009. He might “wow” like his teammate Jered Weaver, but the guy throws strikes, hits his spots, and give his team a chance to win. (Career vs. Mets: .293/.327/.429 line with a 4.15 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 2.17 K/BB)

Angels: TBD…
