Everything clicked for the Mets last night. Jon Niese had his best outing of the season, hurling seven soggy innings, giving-up just six hits, zero earned-runs, one walk, while striking-out seven batters. Niese also had enough run support from new slugger, Justin Turner, who had two doubles and two RBI. The win pushes the Mets closer to .500 (their record is now 20-22).

METS GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Jon Niese pitched seven innings, giving-up just six hits, zero earned-runs, one walk, while striking-out seven batters. It was his third win in 2011, and easily his best one too.
  • Jose Reyes went 3-4 with a walk, and two runs-scored.
  • Justin Turner, who hit second in the order, drew a walk, smacked two doubles, and knocked-in two RBI.
  • Jason Bay chipped in a RBI of his own, and also had a walk.
  • Scott Hairston, despite the not-so-kind words, went 2-3 with a double (just his third extra-base hit this season).
  • Nick Evans made his 2011 debut, and drew a pinch-hit walk.
  • Jason Isringhausen threw another scoreless inning, lowering his seasonal ERA to 1.93.
  • Similarly, Francisco Rodriguez went run-less, notching his thirteenth save, and reducing his microscopic ERA to 0.83.
