Mike Pelfrey (3-3, 5.74 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 1.44 K/BB): Big Pelf still has a long way to go to make his ugly seasonal stats go away, but he’s certainly on his way there. Over his past two starts, the right-hander has posted two wins, 2.51 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 2.33 K/BB, and a .189/.232/.415 line against. Pelfrey isn’t an ace, but the Mets just need him to pitch like the number three he should be. (Career vs. Marlins: .305/.381/.462 line with a 5.63 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, 1.47 K/BB)

Josh Johnson (3-1, 1.63 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 2.94 K/BB): Johnson is one of the premier starting pitchers in the Major Leagues, and has only furthered his reign on the National League so far in 2011. His 1.63 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, and 5.2 hits/9 are the best in his career. Interestingly enough, he’s done all this with slightly inflated  control (from 2.4 BB/9 to 2.9 BB/9) and a dip in dominance (from 9.1 K/9 to 8.6 K/9). Regardless of those peripheral details, JJ will still be a difficult opponent in game one. (Career vs. Mets: .219/.286/.306 line with a 2.73 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 2.38 K/BB)

Marlins: TBD…
