Game 1 Recap: Mets Outlast Astros, 6-4

By Unknown author

Dillon Gee didn’t have his usual command, pitching five innings, giving-up five hits, four earned-runs, four walks, and striking-out a career-high six batters.  While Gee couldn’t hold-off the Astros himself, the Mets bats picked up the slack. The Mets scored five runs off three home-runs–from Jason Bay, David Wright, and recent call-up Fernando Martinez. The win nudges the Mets closer to .500, at 18-20.

  • David Wright went 1-3 with a two-run home-run, and a walk.
  • Carlos Beltran smacked his thirteenth double of the season.
  • Jason Bay hit his second homer of 2011.
  • Justin Turner went 2-4 with two singles, and two runs-scored.
  • Fernando Martinez hit a pinch-hit, two-run home-run. It was his second home-run in his Major League career.
