Jon Niese (1-4, 4.71 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 1.71 K/BB): Considering Niese posted a promising 3.61 ERA, 1.36, and 2.61 K/BB in the first half of 2010, his start to 2011 has been a little disappointing.  The southpaw has looked much better in his past two starts (2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, 1.50 K/BB), but he still has to cut down on the walks (3.5 BB/9), and improve his dominance (5.9 K/9). (Career vs. Dodgers: no record)

Hiroki Kuroda (3-2, 3.10 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, 4.29 K/BB): Despite some durability and age concerns, Kuroda is quietly one of the most consistent starting pitcher in the National League. He keeps his walks down (career 2.0 BB/9), and can strikeout a batter if need be (career 6.6 K/9). At age 36, Kuroda doesn’t appear to be slowing down. His 6.6 K/9 is on par with his career average, and his 1.5 BB/9 is even more pinpoint than usual. The Mets have some success against Kuroda in the past, so at least they have that going for them.(Career vs. Mets: .314/.379/.486 line with a 5.18 ERA, 1.80 WHIP, and 0.91 K/BB)
