Mike Pelfrey (1-3, 7.39 ERA, 1.96 WHIP, 1.23 K/BB): Pelf seemed like he had turned the page on an otherwise horrendous season, but then the flu struck. Despite the ailment (and the subsequent 11 pounds lost), Pelfrey took the hill against the Phillies, and was anything but “sick.” The righty hurled 4.3 innings, giving up 8 hits, 4 earned-runs, 1 walk, while striking out 3 batters. I hope Pelfrey has enough Pepto Bismol to share with the Mets fans in attendance today. (Career vs. Giants: .212/.241/.260 line with a 2.28 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 5.33 K/BB)

Jonathan Sanchez (2-1, 2.73 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 2.00 K/BB): At age 28, Sanchez appears to be honing his stuff better than his early-to-mid 20’s. His control is still all over the place (5.5 BB/9), but he’s been almost untouchable too (6.5 H/9). The combination of high walks/low hits keeps his WHIP in check, but there are those games where everything blows up in his face. Here’s to the Mets experiencing one of those. (Career vs. Mets: .238/.311/.408 line with a 3.89 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, 2.27 K/BB)

Giants: TBD…
