Mike Pelfrey (1-2, 7.23 ERA, 1.94 WHIP, 1.08 K/BB): Big Pelf finally snapped out of his season-long funk, hurling seven innings while just giving up five hits, one earned-run, two walks, and striking out four. Two reason Pelfrey might not build off his last start: (1) he lost over ten pounds the past week with a nasty bout with the flu (2) he surrendered eight hits and six earned-runs in just two innings in his last start against the Phillies. (Career vs. Phillies: .291/.353/.449 line with a 5.08 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, 1.44 K/BB)

Vance Worley (no 2011 stats): With Joe Blanton being placed on the disabled list, the Phillies summoned Worley from Triple-A to take his turn in the rotation. The 23 year-old has some experience in the majors, posting a 1.38 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 3.00 K/BB in thirteen frames last season, but the right-hander is not considered a big prospect. This might be the Mets only “good” chance in the series, so hopefully the youngster doesn’t dazzle.(Career vs. Mets: .000/.250/.000 line with a 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 1.00 K/BB)
