Game 2 Recap: Mets Out-Duel Nationals, 6-3

The Mets offense came alive in the eighth and ninth, scoring five runs between the two innings. The offensive hero was Dan Murphy, who took pinch-hit for Justin Turner, and went 2-2 with a home-run, and two-RBI double. The Mets also got a nice pitching performance out of R.A. Dickey, who hurling 6.6 innings, surrendering eight hits, two earned-runs, one walk, and three strikeouts.

METS GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Dan Murphy went 2-2 with a home-run, two-RBI double, and a run scored.
  • Jason Bay went 2-4 with a run scored.
  • Ike Davis also went 2-4 with a run scored.
  • R.A. Dickey pitched 6.6 innings, giving up eight hits, two earned-runs, one walk, and three strikeouts.
  • Pedro Beato got the win, and has still yet to surrender a run this season.
  • Francisco Rodriguez pitched a scoreless inning, and notched his sixth save of the year.
  • The New York Mets have won six games in a row, and are now just two gave below .500 (11-13).
