At 12 o’clock midnight TONIGHT, 7 Mets players will become free agents. These are the players that will be on the free agent market after midnight tonight (this list excludes Jose Reyes because the Mets picked up his option earlier this week).
Hisonari Takahashi (Failed to Agree on New Deal)
(This list provided by MLB Hot Stove Tracker).
My Thoughts: With the exclusion of Jose Reyes from this list, this definitely isn’t the biggest list of free agents in the league. The only player i see the Mets retaining, is Pedro Feliciano. However, i expect neogitations to be vigorously aggressive. The reason being is, Pedro Feliciano was the most used player in the Mets bullpen this year (Feliciano played in 92 games, which broke his own Mets record of games pitched). I expect Feliciano to get a raise just because of the Mets known habit of using Feliciano in tight situations. Because the Mets went over the deadline with Hisonari Takahashi, the Mets cannot sign him until May, but i expect Takahashi to pitch for another team next year regardless. Whether it be the Yankees or Phillies (which i honestly hope doesn’t happen), or another team. But i don’t see the Mets getting back into it unless there are no bidders this offseason. Other than Pedro Feliciano, i don’t see the Mets signing any of the other free agents to be. I expect them to be let go, and thats that.
