Will Sandy Alderson Turn The Mets Around?

By Unknown author

You’ve read lead blogger Adam Garnett’s take on the installment of Sandy Alderson as the new Mets GM, now here is mine.

With the GM race in the books, Sandy Alderson is the guy whom Fred Wilpon, Jeff Wilpon, and John Ricco think will make the Mets a better orgainization for years to come. Alderson definitely has big shoes to fill, and if he wants to kickstart the Mets and make them a contending team again, he definitely needs to make some very tough decisions. But, the BIG question that is on many Mets fans minds now that the GM search is over is….Will Sandy Alderson Turn the Mets Around?

Many people say that Sandy Alderson is the kind of guy who is professional, bold, and takes action whenever necessary. I’ve also heard that he is the kind of guy who isn’t shy about stepping up for himself, and express his opinions. Will that be enough to get the Mets back on top again, where they need to be. In my opinion, i don’t really know. I don’t think I will state my opinions about Sandy Alderson until he starts making big decisions, like hiring his first manager, and deciding on the contracts of Oliver Perez, Luis Castillo, and others.

Do i think Sandy Alderson will help make the Mets better as an organization? Yes but not right away. Do i think he will turn the Mets around, and make them contenders? I don’t know. We will have to wait and see what he does, and how the Mets respond in 2011.

If you are the kind of person who thinks that a team can turn things around for the future in just one year, then something is definitely wrong with you. In order for the Mets to become a great organization again, they will need to do a better job scouting players, while at the same time acquiring players, and giving players the proper amount of money they deserve, instead of giving them more money than they are actually worth (f.e Oliver Perez and his $33 Million Dollar Contract).

If Sandy Alderson can make the best decisions/moves for the Mets, and can turn the franchise around and make them a contender again, Sandy Alderson will be a great GM. BUT, we will have to wait and see moves he makes, while also looking at what the Mets can offer going into the 2011 season. He has done a good job so far, by adding J.P. Riccardi to the front office.
