Before May, Hisanori Takahashi was one of the top relievers in the Mets bullpen. As the struggles of Oliver Perez continued throughout the beginning of May, the Mets decided to demote Ollie to the bullpen. Hisanori Takahashi was chosen to replace Oliver Perez in the starting rotation. After two starts, Takahashi has shown the Mets that he is a great starter. Takahashi has not let up a run in both of his starts. He also had 6 k’s and lowered his ERA for the season to 2.13 after his last start against the Phillies.
This guy will eventually become a full-time starter for the Mets. He has dominant stuff, and is reliable. Along with Mike Pelfrey, Hisanori Takahashi gives the Mets chances to win ballgames and that is something the Mets are hoping for as they head into next few months of the season.
