Mets Beat Phils 9-1; Extend Lead in NL East

By Unknown author

The Mets came out swinging offensively last night against the Phillies, and beat them by the score of 9-1. Jeff Francoeur, Rod Barajas, and David Wright all had HR’s.  Johnathan Niese threw a solid outing.  Niese went 7IP, gave up 4 hits, an ER, and 7 K’s.   Niese was throwing his fastball in, and his curveball effectively.  That curveball was also nasty.

Jeff Francoeur had a great night.  After that HR, he hit a double.  But in the 7th, he was hit by a pitch on the elbow, and left the game after the inning was done.  According to reports, he is day-t0-day (X-Rays Negative) and is receiving treatment.  Francoeur told reporters he expects to be back in the lineup today for the game against the Phils at 3:10PM EST on Fox (Check your local listings).
