Carlos Delgado says that he wants to play in 2010, this according to Anthony DiComo from MLB.com. When asked about the Mets offering him a contract for 2010, Carlos Delgado said that the Mets never offered him a contract after his second surgery. That isn’t much of a surprise because the Mets would have taken a risk at losing around (and this is just an estimate) of $5 million if Carlos Delgado never took the field in 2010. Sure, the Mets could use him later in the season, but he needs to prove to the Mets, and other teams that he is healthy enough to atleast play. If he is healthy, then maybe we can assume that the Mets could sign him for some backup in case Daniel Murphy gets injured again.
