Mets Turn the Tables and Play Spoiler Role on Marlins

Be honest Mets fans. As much as you’ve rightfully turned your back on this team and this season and this organization, probably many months ago, it still felt pretty satisfying to essentially put the nail in the Marlins coffin winning two of three in South Florida this past weekend. The visions of the Teal Terrors (and the Mets) ripping our hearts out at Shea the past two seasons is not soon to be forgotten. Thankfully, Jeff Francoeur wasn’t around to remember those two debacles and his play over the past weeks, especially yesterday shows it. This guy is such the gamer and really does it all. He is quickly becoming my favorite Met. Gutless…Do you think he would have been caught dead pulling the inexcusable base running blunder David Wright perpetrated a few nights back? Not a chance.

Here are a few interesting news nuggets to pass along. Jerry Manuel did not give a ringing endorsement to any of his managerial staff yesterday. Check out what Bart Hubbach is reporting in the NY Post. You know my stance. I’ve stated it multiple times in the past. I want everyone out, Manuel included. Look at what Rex Ryan is doing with the Jets. A new regime and new attitude is just what the Dr. ordered for Gang Green. I argue the Mets need the same.

Also, It looks like the Mets are one of the teams interested in adding Cuban fireballer Aroldis Chapman who was granted free agency on Friday follwing his defection from his homeland. Chapman, 22, has a left arm that throws 100 MPH, so of course the Mets won’t be the only team chasing him. Take a look at what Bill Shaikin and Mike DiGiovanna have to say in the LA Times.

At the behest of one of my loyal readers, I am going to stray away from the negative in my next post and talk about something that is very positive in Met Land. Unfortunately it has nothing to do with what is taking place between the lines, but the Mets TV announcing crew is really second to none.
