<p>Making his tenth start of the season, <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/parkeha01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.blogger.com" data-blogger-escaped-target="_blank">Harry Parker</a></strong> climbed the hill with a perfect 5-0 record.  But in support of their pitcher, all the Mets could muster was one run on four scattered hits against Phillies starter, <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/lonboji01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.blogger.com" data-blogger-escaped-target="_blank">Jim Lonborg</a></strong>, who pitched eight innings to gain his fourth victory of the season.  He walked two and struck out six along the way.</p>
<p>Philadelphia jumped out to a 4-0 lead off Parker in the fourth.  After the Mets hurler issued two walks and a single, he then surrendered a grand slam home run off the bat of <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/schmimi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.blogger.com" data-blogger-escaped-target="_blank">Mike Schmidt</a></strong> &#8211; his second home run in two games.  Parker lasted five innings, while only giving up two hits.  He walked four and struck out three in suffering his first loss of the season.  <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/montawi01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.blogger.com" data-blogger-escaped-target="_blank">Willie Montanez</a></strong> drove in two more runs in the seventh with a single off <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/henniph01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-www.blogger.com" data-blogger-escaped-target="_blank">Phil Hennigan</a></strong> to give the Phils a 6-1 final victory, while also giving Philadelphia a four game win streak of their own.</p>

<p>As opposed to the last 2 podcasts, we actually have some positive things to talk about, with the Mets not only on a 2-game winning streak, but one that involved a sweep of the ATL doubleheader with <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/h/harvema01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-risingapple.com" target="_blank">Matt Harvey</a></strong> and <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/w/wheelza01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-risingapple.com" target="_blank">Zack Wheeler</a></strong> both earning wins.</p>
<p>(I can take a breath now.)</p>
<p>The team still has too many flaws to count, but for at least 1 day, the promise of the future had an immediate payoff. Rich, Mike and I will bask in the glory, for we all know it could dissipate in seconds.</p>

<div id="attachment_12953" class="wp-caption alignright" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/3/files/2013/06/7256040.jpg"><img class="size-medium wp-image-12953" title="MLB: Spring Training-New York Mets at Detroit Tigers" src="http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/3/files/2013/06/7256040-300x199.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="199" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">March 8, 2013; Lakeland, FL, USA; New York Mets glove and hat lay in the dugout against the Detroit Tigers at Joker Marchant Stadium. <p>The 23 year old Mateo,  had a very good season last year for Low-A Savannah.  In 73.1 innings pitched, he allowed 57 hits while walking just 9 batters and striking out 85.  He had a 2.45 ERA to go along with a tremendous WHIP of 0.90.</p>
<p>Mateo, who&#8217;s been on the disabled list since April, tossed 8.2 innings for High-A St. Lucie this season, compiling an ERA of 4.15.  He also made a brief 3 inning appearance with AA Binghamton.</p>
<p>The recovery and rehab time for Tommy John Surgery is roughly 12 to 18 months.  A recent example is <strong><a href="http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/strasst01.shtml?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-risingapple.com" target="_blank">Stephen Strasburg</a></strong>, who had the surgery in late August of 2010 and made his first rehab start just under a year later.  He returned to the major leagues on September 6th, 2011, meaning his full recovery took just over a year.  Let&#8217;s hope Mateo recovers in similar fashion.</p>
