Yesterday, Mike Lecolant hosted a fantastic show with myself, Mets Musings’ Gary Mack, and Passed Ball Show’s John Pielli. Early on in the show, my friend Ted Matey, who has been a Phillies season ticket holder since 1993, called in to preview his Fightin’s for us: their strengths, their weaknesses, and what he thinks of Ryne Sandberg‘s job so far.
After Ted left, we spent 5 more minutes talking about the Phillies before literally breaking down every aspect of the Mets so far; from the catching position to the bullpen to the starters to the offense to the bench, we talked about a great amount in the 2 hours we were on air. Not to be forgotten was the number of our episode, 71, which has only been worn by Gonzalez Germen in the history of the New York Mets. We discussed the pitcher at length, as well as the 1971 Mets season.
So, before the Mets take on the Phillies in Philly this evening, pre game with the only and only Rising Apple Report.
