Per Marc Carig on Twitter, the Mets are interested in free agent outfielder Chris Young:

Young, a 30 year old center fielder, has a career triple slash of .235/.315/.431.
If the Mets are indeed interested in Young, one would imagine it would be as a complementary outfield piece, not their main acquisition.
Young has power (he’s averaged 24 home runs per season since coming into the league in 2006). However, he’s always hit for a low average and doesn’t get on base much.
Lots of Young’s value comes from his strong defense in center field, but the Mets already have Juan Lagares there.
Young would offer more pop than Lagares, but I’d prefer leaving Lagares in center and adding more well rounded hitters to the corner outfield spots.
