New York Mets organizational players participating in the Arizona Fall League share locker room space with prospects and players from the New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates. Together, they form the Scottsdale Scorpions, who currently reside in last place of the three team AFL East Division with a 7-10 record.
Pitchers Jeurys Familia, Hansel Robles and outfielder Cory Vaughn headline the Mets contingent. Familia, pitching his way back from minor in-season elbow surgery, has appeared in four games to date. In five innings of relief, he has allowed four hits, walked three and struck out seven, but sports a 7.20 ERA. Cory Vaughn is doing little to stabilize his declining stock value. He has 12 hits in 47 at-bats, for a .255 average. He has 8 runs batted in, but has struck out a troublesome 14 times. Hansel Robles so far made 3 starts, has 8 innings pitched, in which he has allowed 8 hits, 2 walks, and struck out 6 batters.
Chasen Bradford is doing well. He’s made 6 relief appearances. In 6.1 innings pitched, he owns a 1-0 record, allowed only two hits, one walk, struck out four, and is yet to surrender a run.
After spending half the 2013 season pitching in the independent American Association, Cody Satterwhite is also continuing to do well in his affiliated comeback. He has not allowed a run in 6 appearances and 6 innings pitched. Cody surrendered 4 hits and 3 walks, while striking out six.
The Arizona Fall League runs through November 16th.
10/29/13 Update: Jeurys Familia has been selected to participate in the Arizona Fall League All-Star game on November 2nd.
