Last night saw the 32nd episode of the Rising Apple report, as Sam Maxwell and Dan Haefeli joined once again to discuss the latest news and trends of the New York Mets. We delved a bit into Matt Harvey’s start Tuesday night, as well as the positives and negatives from Wilmer Flores’ first week in the majors (and subsequent ankle injury) and Jon Niese’s encouraging return to the major leagues. We also discussed Jeremy Hefner’s recent demotion (which was effectively undone by his placement on the Disabled List with a partially torn MCL in his pitching elbow).

Matt Harvey’s impending shutdown has caught the waves over the past few weeks, and that led us to discuss the shutdown of Stephen Strasburg and the subsequent struggles of the Washington Nationals (and the NL East in general). Matt Harvey’s start, which had been lowlighted by a pair of misplays by Daniel Murphy led us into a discussion of the second baseman, and the different aspects of his game through this season.

But enough telling you what we talked about, you can listen to it right here!
