Tonight at Shea Stadium, the Mets lost to the Dodgers 5-3.
After the Dodgers tallied a run in the top of the first, the Mets fought back with two runs in their half of the frame to take a 2-1 lead. They led into the sixth behind Tom Seaver, before the Dodgers put up a four spot against The Franshise to go ahead 5-2. The big blows were a two run homer off the bat of Willie Davis, and a two RBI single from Bill Russell.
John Milner hit a solo homer for the Mets in the seventh to close the gap to 5-3, but that’s as close as they would get. It was the third loss in a row for the Mets, and dropped them to 22-27 on the season.
