Mets Notes from Spring Training: 3/14

News and notes will be emerging throughout the day.  This post will be updated as new pieces of information come in (newest at the top)…

He loved talking about baseball and was just a great guy.  I think in the outside world he was considered legendary and things like that, but I think the guys who knew him and played for him, he was more.  He was just selfless and really put the lives of the kids that he had first.  I think that’s why he was around forever.  It meant everything to him. It’s definitely a sad day.

  • The Mets host the Tigers today at 1:10 PM.  The game can be seen on SNY and heard on WFAN 660 AM/101.9 FM.  Here’s the Mets’ lineup:
