Ian Kinsler is about to begin his 5-year, $70M extension in 2013; he was never signed for 10/96.5. Baseball Reference must have just lumped all his extensions together.

It’s pretty flawed logic to equate “he doesn’t have a whole lot of speed” to “he has stolen 20+ bases 5 times…”. Kinsler actually has well above-average speed, and according to Baseball Prospectus was the 5th-best base runner in the Majors last season.

Basically, trading 5 years of Kinsler valued at $70M (plus a $12M option) for one year of R.A. Dickey makes no sense.
