2012 Winter Meetings: Mets Rumor Central (Con't)

9:21 PM: According to Adam Rubin, it’s unlikely to see Kelly Shoppach return to form a platoon with Josh Thole, and they’re not impressed with either the recently non-tendered Jesus Flores or Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

7:41 PM: Sources point to the Dodgers being close to landing free agent pitcher Zack Grienke, as they’re shopping Aaron Harang and Chris Capuano. The Angels are still seen to be a major player, but if Grienke gets signed while execs are still in Nashville, the market for Dickey could heat up quickly.

6:45 PM: Bob Dutton tweeted that any discussions about a trade involving the Royals and R.A. Dickey will be “dead” if the Mets continue to push for outfield prospect Wil Myers.

David Wright has passed his physical, making his 8-year extension official. He and Jeff Wilpon will be on hand in Nashville to formally announce the pact.

5:00 PM: Adam Rubin reported that the Mets have had virtually no discussions regarding Jonathon Niese. Meanwhile, Alderson and Scott Hairston‘s agent have met, as the two sides start to explore a reunion.

4:43 PM: Ken Davidoff of the New York Post is reporting that the New York Mets are contemplating signing Mark Reynolds to play the outfield. Davidoff also notes that his $7 million asking price is too high for the Mets. Reynolds, who was non-tendered by the Orioles last week, has played only two games in the outfield throughout his career.

4:29 PM: Free agent Shane Victorino agrees to a three-year/$29 million deal with the Boston Red Sox, according to MLB Trade Rumors.
