The Jason Isringhausen celebration was over, and the Padres didn’t care to continue letting the Mets smile. The Padres bats chased Mets starter Jonathon Niese for 10 hits and 3 earned-runs over 6 innings. It didn’t stop there. Pedro Beato and surprise reliever Mike Pelfrey coughed-up another 3 runs in just 1.1 innings of work.
On the other side of the ball, the Mets hitters just couldn’t figure out Padres starter Cory Luebke. Luebke hurled 6 innings, giving-up just 3 hits, 1 earned-run, 3 walks, while striking-out 5 batters. Ruben Tejada, David Wright, and Ronny Paulino were the only Mets to find hits–with Tejada being the sole multi-hit honoree.
The Mets are now 59-63.
