The wait is finally over folks. It appears as if Terry Collins will be named the next manger of the New York Mets. According the Associated Press, an official announcement on the Collins hiring should come early in the week. Terms of the deal are apparently still being worked out but SI.com’s Jon Heyman has tweeted that the will be for two years.
Heyman also tweeted that Chip Hale, who was the third base coach last year and interviewed for the manager’s position, will be on the staff. Other prominent names being bandied about who may find their way onto Collins’ coaching are former Mets pitching coach Dave Wallace (he is Collins’ best friend in baseball) and former Mets coach and hero Mookie Wilson. Check out what the Daily News’ Adam Martino has to say on the matter here.
More details as they come available. Get ready for some pomp and circumstance at Citi Field on Tuesday afternoon. Now all the Mets have to do is find a few guys that can throw the ball over the plate.
