Francisco Rodriguez Leaves Country to Attend to Personal Matters

AUTHOR: Adam Garnett | IN: Mets | COMMENTS: 4 Comments |

Word has filtered in that Francisco Rodriguez has left the country to attend to personal matters (presumably in his native Venezuela). Steve Popper of the Bergen Record tweeted a few hours ago that K-Rod is “out of country for personal matter til opener (at best).” Fingers are crossed everything is OK with Frankie, but seriously? Now this happens? Only the Mets. Expect Pedro Feliciano to get a chance to close things out if the opportunity presents itself. I am taking bets on the next domino to fall. Anyone have a good one? Bay gets on the wrong subway and misses Opening Day? Wright gets stung by some bees? Weeeeeeeeeeeehoooooooooo!!!!!!!

Well at least we’re not talking about injured starting pitching. Oh wait, that wouldn’t really matter unless it was Johan who will probably trip over his dog (while riding a dirt bike, right Jeff Kent.)

One other thing – as the proud fantasy owner of Jennry Mejia, I hope you’re right about him making the club right off. I am salivating at the thought of an eigth inning SP/RP stud!!!

Maybe we should be wondering if they will let F-Rod back INTO the country. Hope is passport and other papers are in order.
Was yesterday’s outing by Pelfrey a cause for celebration. You bet. What about Mejia giving up 2 runs in one inning. Is the kid coming back to earth now that the season is closer and the competition is more fierce. We shall see if eeegee has that eighth inning gem.
