Hey Adam, I checked out your interview with the HotStove guys. It was excellent and got me thinking I would like to hear more about the Met's farm system and what's really behind FMart and signing a million catchers? Although I really do like the signing of Barajas, don't they have an excellent prospect at that spot?
Thanks eeegee. I think we really covered the whole kit and kaboodle in the interview and I think it helped that Paul is a Mets fan. I wish I could give you more positive feedback on the farm system, but alas I cannot. I did get to see FMart take some BP down in St. Lucie and I was blown away with this guy's raw abilities. As for a few of the other highly touted guys (Ike Davis, Jenrry Mejia) I am going to get into them in the next of the "Reflections from Port St. Lucie" series. As for he Million Catcher March, don;t make too much of it. They were just trying to cover their bases. It told me they had zero faith in Santos to be a #1 guy. I think the Mets felt they were a shoe in to sign Bengie Molina and when that blew up, they realized they needed a backstop the caliber of Barajas to guide their fragile starting staff. Josh Thole is a moderate prospect whom they hope can be ready to take control next season, but we'll see about that.
