I am sure most of you were bust watching the first full slate of Sunday NFL action, but talk about pouring salt in an open, oozing, gaping wound. I was fortunate enough to watch Pedro Martinez shut the Mets out for eight innings on Sunday night (among the other things I was watching on the tube…what a day of sports!!!). I have nothing but love for Peety. He is a proud man and a great teammate and I was sorry to see him go but seeing him dominate the Mets in a Phillies uniform was downright painful.
Pedro Martinez Blanks His Former Mates
Mike. Kudos to you for still being able to watch games at this point. You are a real die-hard and this franchise is lucky to have fans like you. To answer your questions in order. Sheff is as good as gone. He is 40 years old and couldn't stay healthy and wore out his welcome by having the audacity to demand a contract extension. I still think he has life in his bat, but he belongs in the A.L somewhere. Delgado is a tough one. Can you really roll the dice on a 37-year old guy coming off hip surgery? I am really mixed on whether I want him back. Obviously the Mets need a power bat in either left field or at first and since there are very few 1B options available in the offseason, I say sign Delgado to heavily incentive-based 1-year deal and take your chances he will be healthy and lethal. Spend your resources (if they have any) on Jason Bay or Matt Holliday to man LF. After last night, I have thrown in the towel on Murph. Trade him for a bag of balls. It's not even like the guy is batting .315 to lessen the sting of his Little League defensive capabilities.

After watching last nights comedy I was wondering a few things, maybe you can answer some of them. What is going to happen to A. Sheffield B. Delgado and C. Murphy. I only ask Murphy because I hope someone will be dumb enough to accept as part of a trade for someone who will not cost the team around 5 games a year based on single handed fielding errors.
