player. (sorry accidentally hit submit). I would have much rather seen Thole pinch hit instead of Evans. I also would have liked to see him behind the plate with K rod instead of Santo but I understand they still want to secure the save.
Then I decided I didnt have enough baseball and hit up Keyspan to catch 9 innings with Beltran. I warned my girlfriend that he would be hitting home runs off these kids like I would if I played T ball. Unfortunately he did not look too impressive at the plate. I saw him go 1 for 4 with two k's and a single. The worst part of the day was the Cyclone rally from behind two with two outs and a man on third. Coming up to the plate... the big... the bad ... the pro... Carlos Beltran. I was sitting there watching this, debating in my head ... go for the winning homerun or single and tie the game? What does he do agianst a pitcher that looked no older than 19? Pops up to the short stop to end the game. Yes, it did leave yet another sour taste in my mouth, one of too many left as a met fan. But all and all I liked seeing him out there and seemingly healthy, although his trot had a bit of a slight limp to it. I am optimistic about next year and the future of people like : The ever vanshing F Mart, Thole and the up and coming of Lucas Duda during spring training to see if they can avoid the seemingly unavoidable trades and make the team or at least develope. I am also interested to have Reyes return healthy and curious as to the future of Shef and Delgado. Like I said, I am optimistic because... Ya gotta believe. Lets go mets 2010!

In an attempt to be optimistic I traveled out to both Citi and Keyspan park yesterday to get my last in person baseball dosage of the year. I looked forward to going to see the mets ... not the mets of this year ... but the mets of the future. I hoped to see Thole catching and Evans playing ... well somewhere. I went in with the mindset of seeing the Mets Pre Pre Season (or extreme early spring training). Unfortunately I did not see those two guys getting some big league experience under their belt but I did enjoy seeing the team that was on the field still trying to win. Pelfrey did a great job of beating up on the cubs and Murph played to the potential I had hoped he would have all year with all the hype he had during the off season. Sullivan made some good defensive plays in left which gives me some hope that he will be another Reed off the bench (that is if he is with the mets next year). Schnieder had two hits ... which is good because he is basically a single to double A
