Maristke....I am not sure I could have said it any better myself. There really are three options. Omar at this point I fear is going to take the least favorable option for real Mets fans, one that is going to avoid making Fred and Jeff's preceious Citi Field a ghost town in a few weeks. Fans simply are not going to pay obscene amount to see a bunk product and Omar knows it. I fear he will become reationary, sensing his job is on the line and pull off a Kazmir-type deal. Say the Mets are 7 games out by Sunday. He'll rationalize that this is still within striking distance and with help possibly on the way in the form of Reyes and Beltarn, the Mets can still make a run. It sounds crazy, but I think all that is left is to pray that the Phillies go on a huge run and put the Mets away soooner rather than later.

I have a trade to toss out there. Trade Omar! For what you may ask? My suggestion, a bag of peanuts, a hot dog and maybe a few broken bats. At least this trade will give put something in your stomach, while maintaining the productivity Omar has made, before you vomit from another one of these stellar Met performances. It is time to seriously consider the Mets future. The mets currently have one more win then the Pirates who are considering getting rid of most of their best players to make strides for a better tomorrow. The Mets have made strides towards absolutely nothing. They aren't trading prospects, they aren't trading current talent and they aren't selling of any veterans (lets be realistic the way they are playing who would want them?). So what are the Mets doing ....NOTHING! Normally I would not have a problem with that but considering Delgado, Castillo are going to be leaving the team next year, I cant see any reason to consider why we would resign Schnieder and there are currently two openings in the outfield waiting to be filled. I can only ask what are you waiting for? That leaves 5 of 8 starting players (not including the pitchers) waiting to be filled by next year for permanent position players. So Omar ... ball is in your court and you may not be around way too much longer to play. You can do one of three things. Sell the teams future out by pulling a "Steve Phillips" and trading off our best prospect (Martinez), and I stress the word prospect, for absolutely nothing. You can do nothing and wait until you or Manuel get fired for watching this ship sink without doing anything about it but "wait til the injured return" (from the dead if your asking any current Met fans). Or you can step up and start making executive moves like you are currently being paid to make. Go out there and find something that will be fair and give the fans one sliver of hope so there will even be a point to watching these games anymore. I strongly suggest the last option.
