Adam, I agree with your blog. These seem to be the 2 options available to the Mets. But they might need a 3rd option. We were having and listening to these same comments earlier in the season. Need a bigger bat in the middle of the lineup. Need more ieadership. Need to play harder. There may be more wrong with this team than a quick fix or getting back their injured players can correct. They may need a complete retooling with only a small core of players listed as untouchable. For the past 3 years they have been trying to "fix" the current roster to add that one player that will put them over the top. But this team with all players healthy have the best team in the east hands down. All stars at 3 positions plus a starter and reliever that are 2 of the best in baseball. It has not made any difference the past 2 seasons. Their problem isn't the talent level, it's HOW they play the game. The prime example was Castillo dropping the ball to allow the yankees to win. There was no accountability for catching one-handed. Just a bunch of lame excuses about why guys catch one handed these days. But watch sportscenter and see how many popups are dropped by players using 2 hands. And on a windy night. So what did Manuel say, something like - gee, nobody feels worse that luis. But they keep making the same mistakes of baserunning, poor techniques, and sloppy mental errors. They third option may be more drastic but necessary. The culture has to change and cleaning house may be the only way and that is option 3.
Great Blog and keep it up.
